Somewhat smaller than many of Muscat’s luxury hotels, The Chedi has been attracting discerning visitors to Oman since 2003, thanks to its stylish blend of Oriental minimalism and traditional Arabian features. On a sandy beach just 10 minutes’ drive from the airport, the 158 bedrooms are comfortable and contemporary with beautiful bathrooms (all with large showers, no baths). There is a vast infinity swimming pool alongside the extensive new spa, and a second infinity pool adjacent to the beach where children are not permitted. The poolside bar serves snacks during the day and is transformed into a romantic candlelit restaurant in the evenings, and the main ‘Chedi’ restaurant offers an Asian menu with an open kitchen where chefs prepare fresh dishes to order.
