Built in 1908 as a private villa, The Ashbee is named after its English architect who introduced the Arts and Crafts fashions to the local Sicilian architecture. Now a very comfortable hotel; modern touches have been introduced to the 25 rooms, some of which enjoy the views of the Straits of Messina.
Guests can relax in the infinity swimming pool and panoramic terrace or enjoy the shade of the many citrus trees. Many of the fresh, Sicilian ingredients used at the ‘St. George Restaurant’ are grown on site. The rooftop bar is an ideal spot for enjoying a drink and taking in the sunset. Only a few steps from Porta Messina and the top of the Mazzaro cable car, this is a great base for exploring Taormina.
