Short Break
Located in the Constantia Valley at the foot of the mountains, Steenberg is the Cape’s oldest farm. Dating from 1682, the buildings have been restored and declared a National Heritage Site Monument (its most recent renovation was in 2019). Many of the 24 rooms are decorated with beautiful antiques; while the premier rooms are modern and spacious with private patios.Award-winning, contemporary fine dining and locally produced wines are served in ‘Catharina’s’ while the head chef, Garth Almazon, oversees the trendy bistro. The bar is the perfect place to start an evening watching the sun set behind the hills with a glass of bubbly. There are two swimming pools (one heated in winter as part of the heritage suites) and a spa. The 18 hole golf course is underwent refurbishment during 2017. The serenity of Steenberg and the Constantia Valley makes for an ideal alternative to the hustle and bustle of the city centre which is only 20 minutes’ drive away.
