Short Break
Just south of the Sneeuberg Mountain range, close to Graaff-Reinet, you’ll find the Samara Reserve. The 70,000 hectares nestles on the plains of the Camdeboo, which was once the scene of the great Springbok migration documented by David Livingstone. In recent years Samara have gradually been returning old agricultural land back to nature and reintroducing the herds of game as well as their predators. The highlights on safari will be cheetah which are regularly seen, as well as meerkats, vervet monkeys, white rhino and giraffe, although the emphasis is on education about the area and eco-system rather than the game viewing. Samara has just 17 rooms in three luxurious lodges.
