Located a short walk uphill from St. Peter Port’s picturesque town centre, the Old Government House is Guernsey’s only five star hotel and is part of the luxury Red Carnation group of hotels. Dating back to 1796 when it served as the official residence of the Governor of the island and the Bailiwick of Alderney, Sark and Herm, it has operated as a hotel since 1858. The OGH, as it is affectionately known, has 63 rooms which are all elegantly and individually furnished in a classical style in keeping with the hotel’s heritage. The ‘Brasserie’ restaurant overlooks the sun-filled garden with views over the port, the ‘Olive Grove’ terrace for outside dining and the outdoor swimming pool. The intimate ‘Curry Room’ is Guernsey’s finest Indian restaurant and there is an atmospheric bar. The spa has a gym, whirlpools, sauna and steam room.
