Short Break
Just outside Donegal town in Ireland’s most north-westerly county, Lough Eske Castle traces its roots back to 1474, and the famous O’Donnell Clan. The current castle was constructed in the early 1860s on the site of the old Brooke mansion, and opened as a grand and luxurious countryside hotel in 2007. Surrounded by 43 acres of woodland, the hotel has 97 elegant rooms and suites, and guests will enjoy award-winning local produce and fresh seafood from Killybegs at the Cedars Restaurant as well as a traditional afternoon tea served in the drawing rooms. There are two atmospheric bars as well as the new Whiskey Cellar, where you can sample local Donegal whiskeys, and an organic spa with indoor pool, seven treatment rooms and four outdoor hot tubs. Lough Eske is just over an hour from Derry Airport, approximately two hours’ drive from Belfast or Knock, and three hours from Dublin.
