The position of Le Fontanelle on a hillside overlooking one of the most peaceful and unspoilt valleys in Chianti is wonderful – it is one of the most serene environments that we have come across and is the perfect place to unwind and to experience exceptional service.
The restoration of this estate lasted seven years and the result is an understated and hugely appealing hotel. The botanical gardens offer plenty of space and with just 25 bedrooms in the main hotel and nine in a separate annexe 400 metres away, the property never feels crowded. Rooms are spacious and comfortable; some have private gardens that make the most of the valley views. There is a super gastronomic restaurant and an al fresco restaurant serving light lunches. Additional facilities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools. The hotel is located just 15 miles north of Siena and 70 miles from Florence. Highly recommended. Hotel open 18 April – 31 October.
