This exquisite hotel was opened after the restoration of a Cardinal’s mansion built in 1688. Located in an atmospheric part of Avignon, beneath the towering city walls, La Mirande has a wonderful, tranquil atmosphere and is decorated throughout with beautiful antiques.
There are just 20 bedrooms, a delightful formal garden where breakfast is served in fine weather and an excellent gastronomic restaurant, recently awarded a Michelin star and the Green Star for sustainable cuisine – reservations are essential and it is closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Informal dishes are offered at the bistro, ‘La Salle à Manger’. The cookery school operates in the hotel’s 19th century country kitchen.
