A hotel since the 19th century, this landmark building was renovated by the Hilton Group and eventually reopened its doors in 2005. It stands in attractive gardens overlooking the ancient city walls (five minutes’ walk to the heart of the old city) and combines historic architectural features with modern, contemporary design. All 139 bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and are decorated in creams and blues. The ‘Imperial Terrace’ restaurant has a large outdoor terrace for summer dining and the lobby bar is proving to be a fashionable meeting place. The hotel’s fitness club has an indoor swimming pool, a sauna and steam bath.
