Located on a leafy square in the heart of the city, this famous and luxurious hotel has played an integral part in the city’s history. Since 1881 it has played host to royalty, Emperors and heads of state and was originally built in 1858 as the residence of King William III’s personal advisor. The hotel has some grand classical features such as the magnificent drop chandelier and colossal marble columns in the lobby and a recent redesign by Parisien interior designer Jacques Garcia has added a chic, contemporary style. The 92 bedrooms are extremely opulent, as are the bathrooms with their powerful rain showers, red tiles and sleek, black marble floors. The restaurant is one of the city’s most popular meeting places with a great culinary reputation and the lounge, where high tea is served, is an institution in The Hague. The spa has a small indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym and offers a range of personalised massages and treatments.
