Short Break
Floating on the Lule river in the pristine wilderness of Swedish Lapland, the Arctic Bath Hotel offers a unique retreat for those in search of peace and rejuvenation. The hotel consists of just 12 detached cabins, either on stilts on the riverbanks, or floating on the river itself, each with ensuite bathrooms and stylish Nordic design elements incorporating natural materials and a minimalist aesthetic. The centre of the resort is the spectacular log-pile spa with its open-air ‘bath’ as well as sauna and treatment rooms. In the restaurant, head chef David Staf creates delicious tasting menus using ingredients from the surrounding landscape – from wild meat and fish to fresh herbs, honey and berries. In the winter the river freezes over and you can try ice fishing, meet the local Sami people and watch the Northern Lights in the sky above, whilst in the summer months you can catch sight of moose in the forest under the glow of the Midnight Sun. Fly to the northern city of Luleå, about 80 minutes’ drive away.
