Once again one of the most opulent hotels in the region, originally built by the Sultan as a palace to host visiting heads of state, the Al Bustan Palace has 250 rooms and suites, each of which offers a balcony and vista of the 200 acres of landscaped gardens and one of the best sandy beaches in Oman, which curves along the bay for a kilometre. The vast atrium soars 38 metres above the reception and lounge, where afternoon tea is served beneath a magnificent chandelier, whilst the main restaurant offers excellent local and international cuisine with an outdoor terrace. There is also a refined Chinese restaurant for dinner, as well as a pool bar and a seafood restaurant overlooking the beach. It is a wonderful place in which to relax and guests will enjoy excellent service from the friendly staff, facilities including sailing, scuba diving and tennis plus a large swimming pool in the gardens. The Al Bustan is located just 10 kilometres from the old city of Muscat (the hotel provides guests with a complimentary daily shuttle-bus).
