At the heart of one of the most beautiful coastlines in Europe, Genoa has only in recent years begun to attract visitors, despite its artistic and architectural treasures. It rivalled Venice as the most important maritime trading centre in the Mediterranean, and like La Serenissima, it too was ruled by powerful Doges chosen from the city’s wealthiest families. The legacy of this great wealth is still visible in the city’s magnificent palaces, and our new tour will also include an opera performance at the Teatro Carlo Felice, as well as an excursion to Santa Margherita Ligure on the glorious riviera coastline.
