Tailor-made Holidays
6 nights from £1,170 per person
Traverse one of Spain’s most undiscovered regions and stay in three atmospheric and historic Paradors. Extremadura is a vast province with an ancient history, but it is home to only 2% of the Spanish population, and inhabited instead by among Europe’s richest concentrations of birds-of-prey.
Travel from Madrid across the plateau and south towards Seville with this tailor-made holiday and you will see much of the region’s landscape, wildlife and history. Staying first in Trujillo with its many mediaeval and Renaissance buildings, you will then visit the UNESCO World Heritage city of Cáceres, famous for its blend of Roman, Moorish, Northern Gothic and Italian Renaissance architecture. Thirty towers from the Islamic period still stand in Cáceres, of which the Torre del Bujaco is the most famous. Finishing in Merida, once the capital of the Roman province of Lusitania, you will see some of the Iberian Peninsula’s finest Roman monuments.
Trujillo, Spain
The Parador de Trujillo is located in the historic centre of Trujillo, a few metres from the Playa Mayor. The 16th century Franciscan convent of Santa Clara, it is built around a central cloister with Renaissance columns and arches, now connected to a second courtyard, which is modern in style.
