Join our very special ballet weekend in Buxton this summer, in the company of ballet expert, author and critic Nadine Meisner. As part of the 2024 Buxton International Festival, one the world’s most distinguished dancers will bring his acclaimed show ‘On Before’ to Frank Matcham’s elegant Opera House in the Peak District. Cuban ballet dancer Carlos Acosta has personally choreographed and designed this work as an homage to his late mother and will perform both a soloist and alongside Laura Rodríguez, a founding member of his Cuban dance company, Acosta Danza. Based a few steps from the venue, we will enjoy an introductory talk from Nadine Meisner on Friday evening, before the Saturday evening performance. Nadine has been the ballet critic for The Times, The Sunday Times and The Independent and her book ‘Marius Petipa – the Emperor’s Ballet Master’, which tells the story of the Frenchman who invented ballet as we know it today, has been critically acclaimed worldwide.
