The Nile Valley was the cradle of early civilisation, where a sophisticated society created some of the world’s most enduring monuments – from the Pyramids and Sphinx, to the great temples at Karnak, Luxor and Aswan and the extraordinary tombs etched into the Valley of the Kings. In the company of an expert historian, we will visit all of these, starting in Cairo and travelling as far as the great temple at Abu Simbel, more than 500 miles upriver. We will cruise the Nile itself between Luxor and Aswan, and discover why this majestic river has been the lifeblood of Egyptian culture and civilisation for five millennia.
