Prague

City

Overview

To visit Prague is to be transported into the heart of Europe in the Late Middle Ages. Castles, palaces, cobbled streets and old-fashioned street-lighting create an impression that is enchanting. Off the beaten track at a dusky hour, you could quite easily be in a different age and for just this reason the city is in high demand from film-makers needing to recreate an authentic old-world atmosphere. Views of Prague’s architecture can be truly unforgettable – the terracotta roofs as you first descend into the city, the flood-lit castle from Charles Bridge, the National Museum at the top of Wenceslas Square or the gothic spires at the east end of the Old Town Square. Apart from its beauty, Prague is above all famous for its culture. The city is full of music, from solitary buskers singing beautiful Czeck folk songs, or improvised jazz bands on Charles Bridge, to major venues like the Rudolfinum and the State Opera - remember to contact the Kirker Concierge prior to your departure to check the programme of events and to book tickets.
