Vienna offers many rewards to anyone with an interest in the arts. The city’s museums and galleries are of the highest order and many are easily reached on foot; the Old Master collection at the Kunsthistorisches Museum; The Leopold Museum with its works by Austrian painters; the stunning pieces of Viennese Modernism including Klimt’s ‘The Kiss’ at the Belvedere Palace are all a must.
Add to this the splendour of the Schönbrunn Palace and the vast selection of musical performances at the Vienna State Opera, the Volksoper, the Musikverein and the beautiful Konzerthaus.
We would be delighted to book tickets for any of these venues, as well as the Spanish Riding School and the Vienna Boys’ Choir – speak to the Kirker Concierge for details. No visit is complete without following the likes of Beethoven, Freud and Trotsky by sampling the unique tradition of Kaffee und Kuchen in one of the Vienna’s famous grand cafés.

Our new Vienna holiday offers a fascinating and unique insight into the city’s cultural highlights in the company of two worldclass experts. Wine guru Jonathan Ray will introduce some of Austria’s increasingly varied and well-respected wines, and celebrated baritone Christopher Maltman will join us for dinner at one of the city’s best restaurants before his performance as Escamillo in Bizet’s ‘Carmen’ at the Vienna State Opera – one of two operas which we see during our stay.
Whilst the sights and sounds of these two cities differ hugely, the histories of Budapest and Vienna are so intertwined that by visiting them separately you only get half of the story.
Combining the capital cities of the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary in one holiday makes for a fascinating journey.
