Brussels Christmas Markets

Brussels, Belgium
Kirker Holidays

Brussels, the compact capital city of Belgium, is home to vibrant bars, cafes and restaurants and world-class museums. During Advent, the entire centre of the city becomes a winter wonderland. Brussels has a range of different Christmas markets, however one core Advent festival, 'Winter Wonders' dominates the city’s festivities.

Traditionally held in Grand-Place and the surrounding stereets: Rue de la Bourse, Place Sainte-Catherine, and Marché aux Poissons; the market has grown larger to extend into much of the historic city centre. A variety of elaborately decorated stalls offer a selection of handcrafted goods, delicious Belgian cuisine and warm glühwein, accompanied by concerts, events and activities.

Brussels’ Christmas Market consists of an impressive 200 elaborately decorated market stalls, divided across different areas of the town centre. The Grand Place, Brussels’ city hall becomes the site of a free, immersive light show, set to a different theme each year. The largest segment of the market is the Marché aux Poissons, Brussels’ former fish market. Clusters of market stalls offer crafts and delicious food and drink, with a large Ferris wheel providing panoramic views. The rows of wooden chalets continue onto Place Sainte-Catherine, where a strikingly illuminated Church of St Catherine provides a spectacular backdrop for Christmas shopping. Continuing to La Bourse, rows of merchants offer artisan crafts and delicious food and drink.
