Michael earned a Masters in Classical Civilisation from Birkbeck, University of London and has a special interest in the ancient worlds of Europe, the Mediterranean and Near East.

He lived in Leiden in the Netherlands as a child for nine years before moving to the U.K. and also has a knowledge of Amsterdam and the Hague. He has travelled extensively throughout Europe having a particular affinity with the Greek mainland and islands.Michael travelled through central Greece from Athens to Thessaloniki by car on a recent trip and since joining Kirker he has also been to Egypt, Portugal, Catalonia and onboard the Venice Simplon Orient-Express.
