Katherine studied French and Spanish at the University of St Andrews, during which she had the opportunity to live in Orléans, Paris and Madrid.
She particularly enjoyed her time working in Orléans when she was able to visit many of the Loire Valley châteaux. Some of her other favourite destinations are Marrakesh and Stockholm.
