The 2024/2025 season at La Scala, Milan has been announced! The celebrated temple of Italian opera is a Holy Grail for music-lovers and the new season is always highly-anticipated.
We have selected a couple of highlights of the new season below – please speak to the Kirker Concierge at the time of booking for ticket prices and availability.
The first real gem of the new season comes in December and January, with a production of La forza del destino by Verdi, under conductor Riccardo Chailly. It stars Anna Netrebko as Leonora, Ludovic Tezier is Don Carlo and Jonas Kaufmann sings the role of Don Alvaro at all performances.
Then in early 2025 Danielle Gatti conducts Verdi’s final opera, Falstaff. Ambrogio Maestri sings the fat knight Sir John Falstaff and Italian diva Rosa Feola continues her conquest of La Scala’s stage as Alice Ford.
Begun in November 2023, La Scala’s new Ring Cycle reaches the second opera. Die Walküre by Wagner is conducted by Christian Thielemann and the star-studded cast includes Klaus Florian Vogt as Siegmund, Elza van den Heever as Sieglinde, Camilla Nylund as Brunnhilde and Günter Groissböck as Hunding.
In the summer Norma, Bellini’s masterpiece of bel canto, returns to the stage where it was given its first performance on New Year’s Eve 1831. Maria Rebeka sings the fearsome title role, Vasilisa Berzhanskaya is the misguided and deceived Adalgisa and English tenor Freddie De Tommaso is Pollione, the man who ruins everyone’s lives.
In autumn 2025 La fille du régiment by Donizetti sees dazzling French coloratura soprano Julie Fuchs as Marie and Juan Diego Florez as Tonio... in whose throat we know that the nine top Cs he has to sing will be effortlessly delivered!
