April has become known as Earth Month in recent years, a good reason to take an extra moment to reflect on our relationship with the environment and strive to live - and travel - more thoughtfully.
Travelling is a privilege that broadens our horizons, fosters a new understanding and appreciation for other cultures, and brings immense benefits to our wellbeing. Tourism can also benefitlocal communities, supporting their economies andcultural heritage. But irresponsible tourism, particularly over-tourism, can negatively impact the wellbeing oflocal residents and can threaten the very existence of the places we visit. Thus, travelling responsibly requires us tomake mindful adjustments to the way we approach travel, ensuring we are considerate of the people and environment of the places we visit.
For Earth Month, we have created sustainable travel guides for some of our most popular destinations: Venice, Paris, Barcelona, Rome and Amsterdam. We follow the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, which take a holistic approach to sustainability, focusing on human wellbeing, infrastructure and economic growth, as well as climate action and respect for the environment. We believe that by making these small changes, you will enjoy a more authentic and less crowded holiday experience. Travelling abroad and sustainability are not mutually exclusive; with a few small changes to your habits, you can positively impact the places you visit.
