There is no doubt that Venice has always had perennial appeal for travellers who have enjoyed visiting at all times of the year – however, in recent years there have been almost too many people during peak summer weekends. We were pleased to hear that the City of Venice has now taken action to launch a new initiative which charges day trip visitors €5 per day when they enter the city. The good news is that Kirker clients will be exempt from the fee and will be provided with a certificate and QR code as part of your Kirker document pack – this confirms that you are already staying in the city centre and therefore don’t have to pay any extra charge.
The Local Authorities are trialling this new scheme on a range of selected dates: 25 – 30 April, 1 – 5 May, 11 – 12 May, 18 – 19 May, 25 – 26 May, 8 – 9 June, 15 – 16 June, 22 – 23 June, 29 – 30 June, 6 – 7 July, 13 – 14 July inclusive. And we wish them the best of luck as they take action to preserve this extraordinary city for the benefit of local residents and tourists who have paid to stay in city hotels.
If you have any questions about this new measure, please don’t hesitate to contact Kirker. We are confident that this step will be to the benefit of all discerning travellers enjoy staying in city centre hotels.
