After receiving a 1st class degree in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford, Fiona went on to carry out a PhD in Pharmacology at King’s College London specialising in inflammation and pain.
Her scientific research continued at the University of Calgary, Canada where she focused on joint pain and arthritis, and she has published over 10 primary research articles and written reviews and book chapters on topical aspects of her research. Always interested in science communication, Fiona has appeared as the scientific expert at various events including a BBC cookery programme on chillies, an evening ‘Pain-Free funfair’ at the London Science Museum, and at the Southbank Alchemy Festival
