Described by Musical Opinion magazine as "an outstanding artist" Benjamin is increasingly in demand as a soloist and chamber musician. Performances have taken him throughout Europe, North America, Africa, and the Far and Middle East. Born in Nottingham, he attended Chetham's School of Music in Manchester before studying at the Royal Academy of Music, and later in Chicago with Shmuel Ashkenasi.
As a soloist, director and guest leader he has appeared with groups such as the English Chamber Orchestra and the Philharmonia. He is a member of the London Bridge Ensemble and Olivier Ensemble and also plays regularly with the Nash Ensemble and Fibonacci. As a recording artist he can be heard on the Hyperion and Dutton labels, among others. Future plans include a recording of the complete works for violin and piano of Franz Liszt with the celebrated pianist and world-authority on Liszt, Leslie Howard. The duo recently gave the world premiere performance of the complete works in Italy to enthusiastic critical acclaim.
